- Nader will be at Columbia this Friday, October 6th, at 8:30pm
in the Lerner Auditorium! Volunteers are needed to help ush (or whatever
it is that ushers do). Columbia Political Union will be doing a
voicemail and mass email, but we need to poster. More information during
today's meeting.
- Please try to have free time on Election Day to hand out poll
cards at the polls and provide other last-minute help. As Columbia has a
two-day recess for Election Day, no one should have class and so we're
looking for a large amount of help to come from Columbia.
- Tabling for Nader is being done by the newly-formed Harlem for
Nader group at City College and on 125th & Lex. Anyone who can help

- The Columbia Political Union student debate is October 23rd, in
the Roone Arledge Cinema in Lerner.
- If you have had trouble with the Board of Elections and registering
to vote, or if you have not yet registered, please contact Mike
Castleman, mlc67 or 3-2151.
- The West Side Green Party is holding a house party this Sunday,
October 8, from 4-6pm at the apartment of Julia Willebrand, 225 W. 84th
Street Apt. 1B. Speaking will be Erin DeOrnellas, a local Green who went
on a clandestine trip to Burma to teach conflict resolution to minority
ethnic groups working in opposition to the state's totalitarian regime.
Suggested contribution is $25, but you're free to give what you can

- Sweatshop workers from Nicaragua and NYC, along with the
National Labor Committee's Charlie Kernaghan, will be speaking in the Earl
Hall auditorium this Friday, October 6, at 5:30pm. There will be an
anti-Kohl's action on Long Island on Saturday, October 7. To ride on the
bus, meet at the 116th gates at 9:00am. For more info, contact Ginger,

- Nader will be at Hunter College Auditorium, 69th & Lexington,
this Saturday, October 7, between 12 and 2, as part of a two-day
conference on "Independent Politics in a Global World". Tickets are $5 for

- The Advisory Committee on Socially Responsible Investing will
hold a community hearing on Wednesday, October 18, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.,
in Davis Auditorium of Schapiro Hall, Room 412. At this hearing,
students, faculty, alumni and staff of Columbia University, and other
appropriate individuals, are invited to present their views on the
University's ethical and social responsibilities as an investor. For more
